Meadowvale’s a great place to play hockey. We start with Ice Puppys. Kids four, five and six years old with big smiles and cool nick-names scoring goals, falling down, getting up, and generally having a blast. They go out and make plays that seem great to them. They have lots of fun with their friends, and afterward there’re drinks in the dressing room. With any luck thirty years later they’ll be playing pickup and doing all the same things. We’ve got a great House League Program. As the largest Association in Mississauga we’re able to enter teams in all levels and age groups. This means at Meadowvale kids get the best opportunity to play with and against children with similar skills and abilities. This gives our coaches the best environment to create a positive atmosphere where all the players are given an equal opportunity to learn and use age appropriate hockey skills. We’ve got a strong Mohawk rep program where players looking for a more competitive atmosphere can challenge themselves against tougher opponents in the MHL, and in tournament play against the top “A” teams from across the province. This past season we entered 8 teams for competition at the “A” level, and celebrated our most successful season ever. Three teams finished first in their age group, three finished second and one finished third. One of these teams went on to earn Silver in the Provincial Championships. Meadowvale offers an outstanding hockey program for kids of all ages and levels of experience, and presents the best balance between competition and fun. It’s a great place for kids to learn, play and compete, and I’m proud to be a part of it. My name is Jim Barbour, and it’s my pleasure to serve as the President of the Meadowvale Minor Hockey Association for the 2009-2010 season. I’ve been with Meadowvale for the past 15 years, coached 30 teams from Ice Puppys to Midget, and have been on the Board of Directors for the past ten years. Enjoy your season. Do your best, have fun.
