MMHA Ice Puppy’s Charity Game for Play-More

Meadowvale Minor Hockey’s Ice Puppy Program has long been one of the best places for children aged 4 to 6 to get their introduction to hockey but on Saturday March 26, it was the Coaches chance to compete.  Our Coaches squared-off in the 9th annual Ice Puppy Coaches Charity game in support of the (MHL) Mississauga Hockey League Play-More Program.  The Play-More Program provides financial assistance to Mississauga families so that their children can play hockey within the MHL.  The game was typically, a sell-out main attraction with Jon Grenier’s Team winning both the game, 13-6 and splitting the skills competition.  It was the first time 3 women played in the annual event.  Through donations, silent auctions and other fundraising activities at the game, Meadowvale Minor Hockey was able to raise roughly $8,000 to go towards the MHL Play-More Program.  According to Meadowvale Ice Puppy Director Niki Beneteau, “It was a challenge to get this annual event running again following 2 years off due to Covid but we had to work towards the future for the children.  There were so many people and companies finding a way to volunteer or donate and we could only reach our fundraising goal thanks to the efforts of all of them.”  The annual charity game is part of the All Star Weekend where the focus returned to the 4 to 6 year old players the next day as they finished their season as ‘All Stars’.  Meadowvale Minor Hockey and the MHL wish to thank all of the many volunteers and all of the local community sponsors.
